Firstly, I will focus on my least preferred roles which are Plant, Resource Investigator, Shaper and Team worker. The nine team roles which indicate on how each role contributes to the team and what their probable weaknesses might be are illustrated in Table 1.5.1.1 (List of Figures) (Spry, 2015).įirstly, Table 1.5.2.1 indicates my Belbin Team Roles Test results. It asks questions on how you trust you can produce constructive contributions to a team, analyzes on why you may find it challenging to work in a team, your perspective to working in a team, and how you embark on reconciling any problems (Donyai, Grant & Patel, 2017). Belbin’s self-scoring Self Perception Inventory developed by Meredith Belbin was designed to assist in bringing about enhancements in individual and team performance (Donyai, Grant & Patel, 2017). Belbin’s team roles have determined to be favored in team building and development and are utilized in many organizations (Brooks, 2018). Teamwork today which is incorporated with the endeavors of individuals in a team to yield synergistic results is a fundamental vehicle used by organizations to enhance performance (Lupuleac, Lupuleac & Rusu, 2012). 1.5 Belbin Team Roles Test 1.5.1 What is Belbin Team Roles Test? In all honesty I would still prefer to be more Thought Oriented than People Oriented )īelow is an extract essay of which I had submitted when I was doing my Bachelor of Business Administration - BBA with Northumbria University where I received a First-Class Honors grade in 2018. I love my strengths (Action Oriented), am heart-broken over my weakness (People Oriented) but hopefully technology will be a good facilitator in enabling to offset my extroverted liabilities. I am an out and out introverted who needs to be an extrovert :( The highest I scored out of these 4 extroverted roles was a mere 36 out of a 100 :( The truth hurts :) The People Oriented columns are glaringly my weaknesses. The roles of Coordinator, Shaper, Planter and Resource Investigator are deemed as requiring extroverted tendencies (Barry, 2013). I did the test last year while taking my degree and was pleased but heart-broken as well with the results :( The Belbin Team Roles is so honest and accurate.
